OTTAWA -- Marie-Ange Janvier was selected from a group of seventeen outstanding candidates. She was a regular on the Honour Roll of the Collège Catholique Samuel-Genest, excelling in the sciences as well as possessing an extra-ordinary talent in Mathematics.
Marie-Ange showed an appreciation for her culture by becoming a member of the planning committee for Black History Month and by specifically organizing and presenting the history of Rap. She also participated in performances with the dance group “Afro-steps” in several schools. Marie-Ange Janvier supplemented the family income with a job at McDonalds, and found time to tutor students in her community who experience academic difficulties. She volunteered as a nursing aid at two hospitals, and managed to keep fit at an athletic club.
